Big Creek Waterfowl is owned by Barry Barnett and operated by Manager and Head Guide Jacob Swiney. Barry grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, duck hunting the flooded backwaters of the Mississippi River and Delta in both Mississippi and Arkansas, creating a growing passion for the sport of Waterfowl Hunting. Jacob, a native of Arkansas, grew up in the local area and learned to Duck Hunt at a very early age. You will find no one that has more dedication and skill than Jacob. In fact, when Jacob is not Waterfowl Hunting, he stays busy year round intensely managing our properties for the next season.
Hunting with traditional guides almost turned me off to the sport completely. I like to use my own duck call, watch my own dog work, and especially enjoy and appreciate our future waterfowl enthusiasts, our children, learning to do the same.
I spent a considerable amount of time, energy and money investigating hunting in the mid south until I settled down in 1992 in the Hunter, Arkansas migration route area for my main headquarters. I have put together thousands of acres of private, prime Duck and Goose Hunting in the Wheatley/Hunter, Arkansas area. We are about 15 minutes east of Brinkley, Arkansas, and about 1 hour west of Memphis, Tennessee, or about 1 hour east of Little Rock. We offer many hunting areas consisting of pits, blinds, flooded timber, sloughs, and breaks, in rice, corn, Milo, and bean fields.
Big Creek Waterfowl and Mallard Pointe Lodge: The Difference
In 2016, Barry and his partner purchased Mallard Pointe, approximately 1,000 acres in the Brinkley area. From time to time you will see Barry (or others) make social media posts about Mallard Pointe and Mallard Pointe Lodge. Mallard Pointe is separate and distinct from Big Creek Waterfowl (that Barry has been operating since 1992) and from time to time we get inquires about Mallard Pointe. We do not do any commercial hunts or offer lodging at Mallard Pointe. With a 90% repeat customer base, all our existing clients already know, but for our new guests that are interested in coming out we wanted to ensure there are no misunderstandings regarding Big Creek Waterfowl and Mallard Pointe.
